Destination Canada Encourages Local Travel with Discounts and Deals

Destinations across Canada are encouraging safe local travel with a series of programs rewarding residents for being tourists in their own town.

Luv’n the Loops Passport program invites locals and visitors to explore Kamloops’ top attractions for a chance to win seasonal prize packs. By visiting select attractions and experiences, visitors can enjoy promotional offers and collect a virtual stamp from each venue; each additional stamp scanned and added to the online passport will bring participants closer to the next prize tier. Prizes will be announced in October, January, April and July.

Toronto’s CityPASS encourages locals and visitors to see the city’s top five attractions – CN Tower, Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada, Casa Loma, Royal Ontario Museum, and Toronto Zoo or Toronto Science Centre – with 35% discount on admission. Passes purchased before February 28, 2021 receive 30 days’ extended validity.

Tourism Victoria is offering residents or visitors who book two or more consecutive nights at one of 19 partner hotels a $75 VISA Reward Card – a way to say “thank you” for choosing to reconnect in Victoria.

Stay, shop, dine and discover the vast array of experiences in Richmond with the Richmond Discovery Passport, with opportunities to win prizes until September 30. Residents and visitors receive discounts and special offers at participating venues, plus the chance to win an ultimate Richmond staycation and other prizes valued at more than $1,000.

Vancouver Attractions Group is enticing locals to spend staycations in the city by offering $100 credit to the city’s top attractions when booking a stay at a downtown hotel. Book through StayVancouverHotels.com using the promo code “Vanpass”. The promotion runs ‘til October 31.

Destination Campbell River unveiled passion-based travel app Campbell River Collection, an initiative aimed at maximizing travellers’ stays in the region. Free to access, the program features a curated assortment of local adventures inspired by passions like active adventure, fishing, nature, photography and more. Upon visiting each experience and checking in, visitors earn points that can be instantly redeemed for rewards ranging from growlers and T-shirts to exclusive deals and discounts. As with all area attractions, each Campbell River Collection experience provider has implemented comprehensive COVID-19 safety guidelines.

Prince Edward Island’s new PEI Gift Card program invites accommodation providers to purchase Island-wise gift cards at a 40% discount to encourage more packages for fall and winter. The same card is available for the public to purchase at 20% discount, and can be used toward local accommodations, restaurants and other participating businesses.
