A familiar favourite is preparing for a fresh debut. When Holland America Line’s Oosterdam returns to service in 2027, guests will be among the first to experience a ship shaped by the line’s most ambitious transformation program to date.
The cruise line has opened bookings for five newly added voyages aboard Oosterdam, offering guests an early opportunity to experience the first vessel emerging from the company’s ambitious Holland America Evolution program. The new sailings begin on October 31, 2027, and span some of the world’s most sought-after cruising regions, from the sun-drenched Mediterranean to the Caribbean’s warm waters.
The announcement follows a phase of expansion for Holland America Line cruises, which recently announced its 2028 Canada and New England cruise collection.
Oosterdam emerges with a new identity
The ship is the first to undergo the cruise line’s Evolution transformation, a fleet-wide modernization initiative designed to introduce some of the most popular elements of Holland America’s Pinnacle Class vessels to additional ships across the fleet.
“One of the great joys of travel is being among the first to discover something new, and these voyages give guests that opportunity aboard Oosterdam,” said Beth Bodensteiner, president of Holland America.
“As the first ship to emerge from Holland America Evolution, Oosterdam marks the beginning of an exciting new era for our fleet.”
From the Adriatic to the Caribbean
The inaugural post-transformation voyage is a 10-day Adriatic Antiquities sailing from Rome to Trieste, departing October 31, 2027.
Along the way, guests will explore a collection of storied destinations, including Sicily, Corfu, Montenegro’s dramatic Bay of Kotor and ports along Croatia’s celebrated Adriatic coastline.
Four additional voyages will follow as Oosterdam makes her way from Europe to North America:
- 11-Day Adriatic Antiquities: Croatia, Greek Isles & Istanbul
- 7-Day Mediterranean Splendor: Greek Isles & Malta
- 13-Day Cultural Crossing: Spain & Gibraltar
- 11-Day Caribbean Cruise from Fort Lauderdale
Together, the itineraries trace an elegant journey from the cultural riches of the Mediterranean across the Atlantic and into the sun-drenched Caribbean.
A fresh take on life at sea
Guests sailing aboard the new Holland America Line cruise ship will notice a number of new accommodations and public venues.
Among the additions are purpose-built Solo Verandah staterooms, forward-facing Bridgeview Suites, refreshed Vista Suites and a redesigned Pinnacle Suite. The ship will also welcome the popular Grand Dutch Café alongside a redesigned Ocean Bar, bringing several signature experiences from Holland America’s newest ships to Oosterdam.
Earlier this week, Holland America Line also announced plans to expand to a 12-ship fleet with the addition of Arcadia in 2029, further supporting the Evolution program’s long-term rollout.
What the launch indicates for travellers and advisors
For travel advisors, the launch provides a timely opportunity to connect clients with one of the most anticipated ship debuts in the premium cruise sector. Advisors looking to increase their visibility can enlist through a reputed travel advisors’ platform and connect with travellers actively seeking professional travel guidance.
The platform offers travellers a simple way to find a travel advisor nearby who can help navigate cruise options, cabin choices and itinerary planning.
The new Oosterdam sailings coincide with Holland America’s ongoing refinement of its onboard experience. The cruise line recently announced new poolside bandstands for select ships, further evolving its entertainment offering.
With bookings now open and the first sailing set for October 2027, Oosterdam offers a first look at Holland America Line’s next chapter, pairing the familiarity longtime guests know with fresh touches and new ways to enjoy life at sea.
