Travellers visiting Canada could soon have more Hyatt options than ever before, from luxury stays in Vancouver to extended-stay accommodations in Saskatchewan, as Hyatt prepares for what it expects will be its largest year of growth in the country.
The hotel company says 10 Canadian properties are expected to open in 2027, part of a development pipeline that now exceeds 40 projects nationwide. The expansion marks a significant milestone for Hyatt, whose Canadian portfolio has quadrupled since 2017.
The trend is notable as demand for premium hotel experiences continues to grow. Earlier this year, The Hazelton Hotel in Toronto once again secured a coveted AAA Five Diamond designation, highlighting Canada’s strengthening position within the luxury hospitality sector and providing advisors with more high-end options for discerning travellers.
A growing presence across Canada
Hyatt’s latest development plans stretch across multiple segments of the hospitality market, including luxury, lifestyle, cultural tourism, and extended-stay accommodations.
“Our growth reflects the strength of our relationships with owners and developers, the breadth of our brands and the flexibility of our development models,” said Julienne Smith, Head of Americas Growth at Hyatt.
According to the company, Canada remains one of its priority markets, with new projects planned in both established tourism hubs and smaller regional destinations.
The pace of growth has accelerated considerably over the past decade. Hyatt says its portfolio of operating Canadian hotels is now four times larger than it was in 2017.
Luxury expansion reaches the West Coast
Among the most anticipated additions is Park Hyatt Vancouver, which will introduce the luxury brand to Canada’s West Coast.
Once open, the property will join Park Hyatt Toronto as only the second Park Hyatt hotel in the country. The move strengthens Hyatt’s luxury presence in two of Canada’s most important gateway cities and reflects continued demand for elevated travel experiences.
Recent additions to Hyatt’s Canadian network include The Clayfield, part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Hyatt Regency Niagara Falls Fallsview, Hyatt Place Vancouver/Metrotown in Burnaby, and Hyatt House Thunder Bay.
Hyatt prepares Canadian debut for new hotel brands
Several of Hyatt’s upcoming projects will also introduce entirely new brands to Canada.
Hyatt Select Kingston is scheduled to open in Ontario later this year, becoming the country’s first Hyatt Select property. Designed primarily for hotel conversions, the brand offers a pathway for existing hotels to join Hyatt’s network.
A year later, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, is expected to welcome both Hyatt Select Prince Albert and Hyatt Studios Prince Albert. The project will mark the Canadian debut of Hyatt Studios, Hyatt’s extended-stay concept featuring apartment-style suites and in-room kitchens.
For travellers planning longer visits, relocations, or work-related stays, the additional inventory could provide more flexibility outside traditional hotel markets.
Hyatt looks ahead to its biggest year yet
With more than 40 projects in development and 10 openings planned for 2027, Hyatt’s expansion shows no signs of slowing. The company is growing across luxury, lifestyle, cultural tourism, and extended-stay segments while establishing a presence in both major cities and emerging destinations.
For travel advisors, the extensive portfolio creates more opportunities to match clients with properties that align with different travel styles, budgets, and loyalty preferences. Travellers, meanwhile, can connect with local travel advisors to plan their itinerary, select the right accommodation, and make the most of each hotel’s unique experiences.
