Canadians Least Likely to Travel in Next Three Months, But Desire is Increasing

A survey by Finder’s Travel Index says Canadians are the least likely group of people to travel in the next three months. But our desire to travel is growing.

The company surveyed residents of 19 countries around the world and found that just 16.49% of Canadians are planning to do any kind of travel within the next three months. That leaves Canada ranking last for short term travel plans for the third month in a row.

But that number is up substantially from March, when only 12.91% of Canadians said they wanted to travel in the next months, and also up from February (12.5%).

As well, Finder’s said it saw traffic increases of 12% to their Travel Deals page this past month, indicating Canadians are starting to research their next vacation or even book in advance to lock in deals, enticed by the deep savings and the ability to cancel should vaccinations be delayed further.

Finder’s said the number of Canadians willing to travel internationally is up, but remains very low at just 2.5% for trips in the next three months. The newest survey find 7% of Canadians are planning domestic trips in the next three months, up from 2.5% in March.
