Controversy Continues over COVID Testing Company Switch Health
May 28, 2021 ctn_admin
There have been many horror stories regarding Toronto-based company Switch Health, who was awarded a $100M Federal contract for the mandatory hotel quarantine testing program that took effect February 22nd.
Lost tests, inaccurate reporting, delayed results, some travellers even received results they hadn’t submitted yet – the stories are plentiful.
Now there is new information that the company misrepresented some of its workers, referring to them as nurses when in actuality, they were hired from a marketing promotion company, Blast Marketing. Six employees have come forward to Global News with allegations they were told to refer to themselves as nurses, despite not being actual nurses.
Switch Health is not listed on the Blast Marketing site as a client.
The company had the Ontario testing pilot project at Toronto’s Pearson International back in January 2021, before securing the Federal contract. They had also been delivering testing services in the Windsor-Leamington area and Peel Region, said they could support the needed volumes and timing requirements for the pilot project. They generated controversy there as well, raising questions about a connection to the Ford government after a Switch Health lobbyist was identified as Jeff Silverstein, a former PC Party communications director.
