Canada Tops U.S. in Vaccinated Residents

July 18, 2021 admin

After a slow start, Canada has now fully vaccinated a larger percentage of its residents than the United States.

Vaccine Tracker Canada reports that 49.19% of Canadians have now received two vaccine doses. The Centers for Disease Control in the U.S. says 48.6% of Americans have two doses.

The U.S. is ever so slightly ahead in terms of the percentage of the adult population with two doses (56.8 to 56.5), but Canada likely will surpass the U.S. on that front by tomorrow (July 19).

Canada has been ahead of the U.S. on percentage of residents with a single vaccine dose for some time. As of today (Sunday, July 18), 79.81% of Canadian adults have a single dose, compared to 65.5% of Americans.

Canada was far behind the U.S. earlier this year, but the Trudeau government has made up for it by procuring massive amounts of vaccine doses.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau this week said Canada could begin to welcome fully vaccinated American travellers to Canada next month.
