Omega Tours Shifts Focus; Gives Canadians Great Post-Pandemic Opportunities

All signs point to travelers choosing options closer to home as Canada begins its emergence from the Covid-19 shutdowns. Whether out of an abundance of caution, an eye on savings or a show of support to the country’s travel industry, only about 20 percent of Canadian consumers participating in an Ipso Survey for the Global News indicated they would travel outside the country this year. Omega Tours is making that decision especially appealing. It has, in fact, overhauled its typical travel options to focus on offering Canadian Signature Experiences via its newly relaunched website.
Omega Tours has been owned and operated by the Sarracini family since 2005 and is endorsed by the Canadian Tourism Board. And while the business still offers small group, private, independent and escorted tours across North America and Europe, it has pivoted its attention to in-country travel and is the first business to offer such a wide selection of unique experiential options.
“Canada has so much to offer. We are using our expertise to connect consumers to hidden gems right in their own backyard that make for an extra special getaway and once-in-a-lifetime experience. We also are committed to supporting the Canadian tourism industry, which has been devastated by the pandemic,” said Jason Sarracini, Managing Director, Omega Tours. “Experiences are the preferred option for many travelers as they provide a more personalized way of engaging with people, places and cultures. And there is no shortage of opportunities here in Canada.”
Experiences range from a one-hour helicopter tour of the 1000 Islands to a 10-day stay in urban St. John’s and Newfoundland’s outport communities. In between there is a wildlife excursion in the Great Bear Rain Forest, an adult summer camp-type Algonquin adventure, the Canadian Rockies by bike, a trip to Whitehorse to see the Northern Lights and dozens more. Prices range from $40 and up and include private, group and custom options.
Introduction of Canadian Signature Experiences is especially timely as the government and tourism organizations recently announced investment of tens of millions of dollars to support recovery of the industry which employs one in 11 Canadians.
“We hope our new travel experiences will provide residents who may have decided to forego vacations a reason to reconsider. Our partnerships with so many locales and travel organizations have resulted in creative offerings that promise to provide memories for a lifetime,” said. “They may even lead to a renewed focus on staycations. Once you start down the road to new experiences, it makes you want to try even more.”
