Air Transat has officially kicked off its Winter 2026–2027 program with a decisive network expansion, adding four new international routes and boosting its transatlantic network with year-round service to major European destinations.

The newly announced routes—London–Puerto Plata, Quebec City–San José, Toronto–Fort-de-France, and Charlottetown–Punta Cana—highlight a clear strategy to broaden access to both tropical getaways and culturally rich destinations.

Air Transat is making its Toronto–Paris and Montreal–Barcelona routes year-round, strengthening Europe travel options from Canada. This move expands its presence in two of Europe’s most popular cities while offering travellers more opportunities for off-season trips.

Rising travel costs are also shaping how Canadians plan their trips, with a recent report highlighting that summer airfares have already climbed noticeably. As outlined in this analysis on rising flight prices in Canada, travelers may increasingly look toward flexible winter options and better-value routes.

“Demand for sun destinations remains strong, and Transat’s recognized expertise in leisure travel enables us to respond with ambition. Leveraging our brand, our network and a strategy focused on diversification and optimization, we continue to enhance our offering and expand our presence in high-potential markets,” said Sebastian Ponce, Chief Revenue Officer at Transat.

The revised schedule ensures more consistent connectivity for passengers looking to explore Paris, Barcelona, Lisbon, Porto, and Madrid, all of which remain central to Air Transat’s Europe flights network.

On the leisure side, the carrier continues to invest in high-demand winter sun vacations, with routes to Punta Cana, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, and Montego Bay complementing the newly introduced services.

Air Transat is making it easier for travellers to escape the winter chill without relying heavily on connecting hubs by linking more Canadian gateways directly to warm-weather destinations.

The announcement reflects a broader shift in travel behaviour, where flexibility and destination variety are increasingly shaping booking decisions. By balancing its European and southern offerings, the airline is aligning its capacity with evolving demand while enhancing convenience for travellers across multiple regions.

“And this is only the beginning: next winter will bring a wave of announcements, spanning both network development and partnerships,” Ponce added.

The Canada-based airline has unveiled Phase 1 of its Winter 2026–2027 program, introducing new offerings across its Europe and sun networks.

Route Details
Quebec City → San José 1 flight/week, starting December 15, 2026
Toronto → Fort-de-France 2 flights/week, starting December 19, 2026
London (Ontario) → Puerto Plata 1 flight/week, starting December 15, 2026
Charlottetown → Punta Cana 1 flight/week, starting December 16, 2026

As global air connectivity continues to expand, Canada is seeing growth in long-haul routes. This includes a move from Ottawa, announced on April 20 on increasing direct flights between Canada and China in coming times.

Air Transat Canada is expanding its network while strengthening its competitive edge with this first-phase rollout. The airline plans to offer travellers greater choice, enhanced connectivity, and a combination of sun-soaked getaways and city escapes this winter.
