The Port of Montreal has officially launched its cruise season, marking a strong start with a renewed focus on luxury travel and diversified offerings. The season opened on April 24, 2026, with the arrival of Victory I from Victory Cruise Lines.

A major highlight this year is the return of Crystal Cruises after a seven-year absence. The company’s ship, Crystal Symphony, is set to call at Montreal once again, reinforcing the port’s growing appeal among premium cruise operators.

This comeback reflects a broader trend toward upscale cruising experiences, with more luxury vessels choosing Montreal as a key stop on their itineraries.

As released in a recent press release, Marie-Claude Galarneau, Chief Human Resources and Strategy Officer at the Montreal Port Authority, stated, “The launch of this new season reflects Montreal’s growing attractiveness on the international stage.

“Beyond their tourism contribution, cruises generate tangible economic benefits for our local ecosystem and help showcase the St. Lawrence River, our port expertise and the city’s distinctive hospitality.

The Port of Montreal cruise season will feature 39 cruise operations, including a mix of international ships and high-end lines. The port continues to position itself as a gateway to North America, offering passengers access to the cultural and historical richness of Montreal while supporting the Canadian tourism economy.

Yves Lalumière, President and CEO of Tourisme Montréal, also added, “Welcoming prestigious ships and the strong growth of the high-end segment demonstrate Montreal’s appeal to international travellers seeking authentic experiences.”

The cruise ship season also reflects a strategic shift toward sustainability and enhanced passenger experiences. With upgraded port facilities and a focus on responsible tourism, Montreal aims to accommodate increasing demand while maintaining operational efficiency.

Industry observers note that the resurgence of luxury cruise traffic, combined with the return of established brands, signals a positive outlook for the region. For additional background on luxury cruise expansion trends, take a look at Tauck’s return to the Baltic Sea cruise circuit after a long absence.

As cruise travel continues to rebound globally, Montreal is positioning itself as a competitive and attractive destination for both cruise lines and travellers seeking refined, immersive journeys.
