Following a review of our summer program, Sunwing Vacations Group  which  includes, Sunwing Vacations, WestJet Vacations and Vacances WestJet Quebec  announced it will extend the pause of operations to Cuba for the 2026 summer season to include Varadero (VRA) and Cayo Coco (CCC). At this time, all operations in Cuba have been cancelled from June 20, 2026, through October 9, 2026 (inclusive) for all gateways/airports.

Sunwing Vacations Group in a release said it will continue to offer convenient flight options from key gateways across Canada to a wide range of popular sun destinations across Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America

Services to Varadero (VRA) and Cayo Coco (CCC) will resume as scheduled on October 10, 2026. Service to Holguin (HOG), Santa Clara (SNU), Cayo Largo (CYO) and Cienfuegos (CFG) will resume on October 25, 2026.

Customers with upcoming vacations to Cuba

The release went on to say that customers who have a vacation to Cuba scheduled to depart between now and October 31, 2026, will receive a full refund to their original form of payment. Refunds will be processed, and no additional action is required. They advise customers should allow up to 21 business days for refunds to be processed.

Sunwing has been a one of Cubas largest suppliers of Canadian tourist to the island. The financial impact will likely be felt across the Island and have a devastating impact on the heels of the current US oil embargo.
