The tourism industry in Canada is ready to embrace a major business boost in the current week as hundreds of international buyers arrive in Toronto for the ‘Rendez-vous Canada (RVC) 2026, the country’s largest tourism trade event.

The event began on 26th May and is scheduled till 29th May, and is organized as a marketplace to bring together destinations, tour operators, travel agents, tourism businesses and hotels across Canada and around the world.

The organizers expect that the event will generate more than $100 million in tourism sales, building on nearly $90 million in business during last year’s event in Winnipeg.

Why has the event gained so much attention

While the travellers may never be able to attend Rendez-vous Canada themselves, the event plays a crucial role in shaping future travel experiences.

Over four days, tourism businesses will pitch Canadian experiences directly to international buyers who create itineraries and travel packages for visitors worldwide.

Highlights of this year’s events

  • 500+ international buyers from 24 countries
  • 1400+ registered attendees
  • 60,000+ pre-arranged business meetings
  • 900+ Canadian tourism sellers

The rising participation reflects strong international demand for the Canadian travel experiences.

Global interest in Canada consistently rises

According to Destination Canada, interest from key markets such as Brazil, China, and France has increased significantly in recent months.

American participation also remains strong despite economic uncertainties.

“Tourism is one of Canada’s most immediate and scalable export opportunities, and Rendez-vous Canada is where that opportunity turns into action…” – Marsha Walden, President and CEO of Destination Canada.

The timing is particularly crucial as the country’s tourism sector continues to expand and recover.

Tourism and travel are projected to reach $140.9 billion in 2026, implying a 6% increase over the last year.

Toronto takes centre stage

Toronto, where the event is currently being held, is using the event to highlight its attractions ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026.

International buyers are getting a firsthand look at the city’s culinary experiences, diverse neighbourhoods, sporting venues, and major attractions as preparations continue for one of the world’s largest sporting events.

Last year, Toronto welcomed around 28.3 million visitors, a record, and generated a whopping 9 billion in visitor spending.

What’s ahead for Canada

For the tourism industry, Rendez-vous Canada is more than just a networking event; it is a place where future travel plans begin to take shape. The event gives platforms for forging international partnerships as well as the emergence of new destinations across the country.

With growing global interest and record participation, the industry leaders are optimistic that the event will help them drive a great year for Canadian tourism.
