CTV News Reported Toronto police are investigating after shots were fired at the United States Consulate in downtown Toronto early Tuesday morning. Authorities say no injuries were reported and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Police responded to the consulate building on University Avenue near Queen Street West shortly after 5:30 a.m. following reports of gunfire in the area. Officers later confirmed that evidence of a discharged firearm was found outside the diplomatic facility.

Investigators have not yet identified a suspect or established a motive for the shooting. The scene was secured as police examined the area and collected evidence.

The U.S. Consulate is located in a busy stretch of downtown Toronto close to several government offices, courts and hospitals. Police temporarily increased their presence around the building while investigators reviewed the scene and nearby surveillance footage.

Authorities have not disclosed how many shots were fired or whether the building itself was struck. No injuries were reported among consulate staff, security personnel or members of the public.
