U.S. Travel Insurance Group Names Canada World’s Safest Country To Visit For 2021

A major U.S. insurance company report has named Canada as the world’s safest destination to visit in 2021.
Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection, which is run by Warren Buffett, cited the true north strong and free as the top country, as rated by respondents to a survey. Canada also received strong marks for the way it’s handled the pandemic.
Editor’s note: The study was published in November, when Canada’s virus numbers weren’t nearly as high as they are now. I’m not sure we’d be top of the podium today, but it’s still useful information for the country’s travel and tourism industries.
Berkshire Hathaway cited Vancouver and Montreal as “two of the world’s most beautiful cities,” and mentioned Banff and Jasper as “two of the world’s most beautiful national parks.”
“What’s between is a lot of open space, and people like that, too.”
Okay, that kinda leaves out all of Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario, not to mention all the provinces in Atlantic Canada. But we’ll let it go.
Here’s a list of the Berkshire Hathaway top 10 safest destinations on the planet:
- Canada
- New Zealand
- Australia
- Iceland
- Switzerland
- Germany
- Sweden
- Italy
- Ireland
- Japan
Despite Canada ranking so high as a country, no Canadian cities made the Berkshire Hathaway list of safest cities in the world. Here’s their top 10.
- Tokyo
- London
- Dubai
- Madrid
- Berlin
- Honolulu
- Seoul
- Paris
- New York
- Los Angeles
