Dream Now, Travel Later: Destination Canada Highlights Ontario Water Sports
February 28, 2021 ctn_admin
We’re not travelling now, but with any luck we’ll be able to get out and enjoy things a lot more come spring and summer. Here’s a look at some of Destination Canada’s ideas for Ontario, including whitewater rafting near Pembroke and a heritage canoe trip around the Toronto Islands with great food.
ONTARIO
Whitewater rafting In Forester Falls, join a full-day whitewater rafting excursion hosted by Owl Rafting. Depending on river conditions, you can also body surf, float or cliff jump; after the adventure, change your clothes and nosh on a grilled buffet overlooking the water. The trip ends with a leisurely cruise via a historic route that displays the Canadian Shield in all its splendor. Trips start at $125 per person, and run in 2021.
Paddling and dining From Toronto, hop aboard a paddling adventure with Culinary Adventure Co., where you’ll drift to the picturesque Toronto Islands in a heritage canoe. Once arrived in the islands, you’ll dine on a scrumptious spread consisting of wild-foraged ingredients, local meats, fish, artisan cheese, handmade charcuterie and dessert prepared by the tour operator’s culinary team. Once sated, paddle back to the city skyline, glittering against a magnificent sunset. The three-hour trip costs $160 per adult, and starts running in May 2021.
