Worldwide Hotel Occupancy Makes a Big Leap Forward

BusinessTravelNews – Worldwide hotel occupancy jumped from 31% in January 2021 to 46% in April, according to a new report from Amadeus.
The largest hotel occupancy improvement was in China, where it rose from 35% in January 2021 to 61% in April, according to Amadeus’ “Rebuilding Hospitality” report. North America reported the next highest gain during that period, from 33% to 51%. Europe continues to struggle, with occupancy levels up five percentage points from January to 17% in April.
Global hotel occupancy in April 2020 was 13% as the Covid-19 pandemic settled in worldwide. Typical occupancy for April is about 70%, according to the company.
