Canadian Travel News co-founder and editor-in-chief Jim Byers has been elected to the board of directors of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW).

His election was announced by SATW officials on the weekend, and he’ll begin his role following the group’s annual convention, which takes place in Milwaukee in October.

“I’m very grateful for the support from my fellow SATW members, and I look forward to serving my term as an at-large member of the board,” Byers said. “Travel writing is my passion, and I can’t wait to give back to a profession that’s provided me with so many wonderful opportunities.”

SATW is a professional organization comprised of the travel industry’s most experienced journalists, photographers, editors, broadcast/video/film producers, bloggers, website owners, public relations experts and hospitality industry representatives from the United States, Canada and beyond.

Founded in 1955, SATW has more than 1,000 members who contribute to some of the world’s most influential print, digital and broadcast platforms. Members also are travel and hospitality brands and the public relations agencies that represent them. SATW is the premier networking organization bringing all of those professions together.
