The Walt Disney World’s newest, boldest and best roller coaster at EPCOT is finally opening to the public as of Friday, May 27. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is a Marvel-themed ride that happens to be the first coaster attraction at EPCOT as well as the first reverse launch for a Disney coaster.

It’s also the first Walt Disney World attraction to feature the Guardians of the Galaxy. The roller coaster is a fun, family thrill ride suited for kids and adults alike.Media were invited to test out the ride ahead of the launch – the ride debuts as part of the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary celebrations in Orlando, Florida.

The roller coaster is a thrill for adventure and adrenaline-seeking enthusiasts. Some of us went on the ride at least five times. It captures the spirit and grandiosity that is promised in the Guardians films, and riders will get to enjoy one of six classic ‘70s and ‘80s songs on the ride. Composer Tyler Bates from the Guardians of the Galaxy films created more than two hours of new music for the attraction’s score.

Cosmic Rewind, which features more than 75 minutes of original content, is the longest fully enclosed coaster in any Disney theme park and one of the longest enclosed coasters in the world. As an adrenaline junkie, I had a blast on the ride every time.

The attraction welcomes guests with a massive Starblaster ship that sits on a docking stand outside the Wonders of Xandar pavilion, the first full-size version of this Xandarian ship ever built.

Also located at the Wonders of Xandar Pavillion is the Treasures of Xandar shop, which allows guests to shop for Guardians of the Galaxy-themed collectibles, accessories, clothing, toys and more.

This ride is just one of the many EPCOT transformations that the theme park has planned. If you’re planning to visit the Disney World Resort, make sure to check out Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind as well as many of the 50th Anniversary Celebrations that the park has available for visitors.
