Redtag.ca Announces Best Five Places to Visit in Europe this February

February 15, 2023 ctn_admin

In 2023, global travel is expected to rise 30% from the previous year as reported by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).

It’s no doubt that Canadians are ready to jet set off to parts unknown, and now that we’re in the month of love, there’s no better time to treat your partner to an unforgettable romantic getaway. With beautiful scenery, incredible cuisine, new and traditional cultures, and famous landmarks some have yet to see outside of films, European destinations are just downright the most romantic ones you could hope to find.

It’s with this mindset that resident travel guru and CEO of Red Label Vacations, Frank DeMarinis has noticed travellers are now booking trips overseas: “Now that people have gotten the initial pent up wanderlust out of their systems, which was built over the pandemic, travellers are being a little more intentional with where they are headed and who they are taking”, he continues, “What better way to show someone how much they mean to you than dedicating quality time in a place of beauty unparalleled to the rest of the world”.

Upon deciding to take the leap and book a romantic getaway, the next step is choosing a place to make memories that will last a lifetime, taking your relationship to new heights.

To help, redtag.ca travel experts have put together a list of the top European romantic destinations with the most romantic activities in each location, all to inspire your next holiday.

1.       Paris: If you haven’t been to Paris yet, you need to book your ticket immediately and discover why couples have flocked to the City of Love for centuries. There’s a reason it’s served as the backdrop for countless cinematic romances! From Midnight in Paris to Emily in Paris, this striking city’s iconic landmarks and natural beauty has a number of bucket list items when it comes to a romantic holiday including:

  • World-famous Parisian pastries from local patisseries in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighbourhood are enjoyed best while marvelling at the Eiffel Tower.
  • A cruise at sunset or dinner at one of the many classy restaurants along the Seine River to enjoy boeuf bourguignoncoq au vin, and the bouillabaisse and, of course, crème brulée.
  • The “I Love You” wall in the charming Montmartre district to learn how to say je t’aime in over 250 languages.

2) Venice: Known for its many canals and bridges, stunning architecture, and singing gondoliers, Venice is a real charmer. You’ll have no trouble reigniting the spark with your partner in this northern Italian city. The most romantic moments you could hope to experience here are:

·        A sunset gondola ride along the Grand Canal.

·        Indulging in Italian cuisine on a roof top terrace starting with some antipasti before an order of risotto al neri di seppi.

·        Tickets- booked well in advance- to see a ballet, classical music concert or opera at Teatro La Fenice in San Marco.

3) London: London may not be your first thought when it comes to romantic locations, but don’t let the hustle and bustle of this metropolitan capital fool you – London offers countless beautiful areas for romantic rendezvous like:

  • A picnic at one of the eight Royal Parks. St. James Park is where you’ll find a view of Buckingham Palace, or Hyde Park, by the serene Serpentine Lake.
  • Posh riverside pubs by the Thames, summery beer gardens, or quirky historic bars.
  • The London Eye, the world-famous observation wheel on the South Bank of the Thames, has a romantic twist in the Cupid’s Pod.
  • Stargazing at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich.

4) Dublin: If you were looking for a sign- this is it, this city has a unique connection to St. Valentine, the patron saint of love. His remains are buried underneath the Whitefriar Street Church, and although his shrine is visited throughout the year, the most popular day is, of course, February 14. Admire the stunning interior of this beloved landmark and have a moment of peaceful contemplation with your partner here or in these other hotspots:

  • A romantic stroll down “Love Lane”, an open-air art installation in the Temple Bar district.
  • Experience the high-quality Irish music and dance show. Sláinte!
  • Have a unique stay in a remodelled castle and live like a queen or king.
  • The famed 200-plus-metre, Cliffs of Moher stretched alongside the ocean and the harbour city of Galway, both featured in countless TV shows and movies, are just a few hours away and worth the day trip!

5) Amsterdam: While the capital of the Netherlands is much more well-known for its nightlife and coffee shops, it’s also a romantic city brimming with gorgeous greenery, excellent food, warm people, and postcard-worthy locales. For fun and adventurous couples, look no further than these activities:

  • Experience the 165-plus canals, starting at the city’s Canal Ring, by renting a pedal boat from the city centre or book a private canal cruise for two, enjoying a glass of Prosecco with your partner as you drift beneath bridges.
  • Explore Amsterdam by bike like a true local. Tandem bikes are also available, so rent one to share!
  • If you’re visiting Amsterdam in the springtime, then head to Bollenstreek to see more than 7 million tulips, the Netherlands’ national flower, and other flowers in bloom.

This February  all travellers have to do is book a flight + hotel package for the best deals and to find the perfect romantic destination of their choice.
