International Group Urges Widespread Airline Passenger Testing for COVID-19

GLOBEANDMAIL – Widespread adoption of COVID-19 tests for airline passengers will allow governments to reopen borders safely while boosting travel and limiting the devastation suffered by the world’s air carriers in the pandemic, the head of a global airline group says.
The International Air Transport Association’s call for tests comes as Air Canada and WestJet Airlines Ltd. say they plan to begin trials of voluntary COVID-19 checks for the lethal virus in the weeks ahead in an effort to persuade governments to loosen travel restrictions and assure passengers that flying is safe.
