Air Transat says it’s suspending its flights until the end of July.
“Due to continued travel restrictions, both in Canada and in the destinations we serve, our operations are temporarily suspended until July 29, 2021, inclusively,” the company said on its website. “Clients affected by flight cancellations will receive a notice shortly informing them of their options.”
“We continue to monitor the evolution of the pandemic and the decisions of the health authorities very closely; we will be ready to meet the consumer demand when it arises.” said Joseph Adamo, chief sales & marketing officer. “We are confident that we have what it takes to re-launch a prosperous, sustainable and strong Transat, especially considering the financing agreement with the Government of Canada.”
Ottawa recently said it would provide Transat with up to $700 million in loans to help it deal with the pandemic. Refunds must be provided to passengers who had flights cancelled due to COVID-19 as part of the deal.
