Cuba Easing Travel Restrictions November 15

Cuba’s tourism ministry has announced the opening of all the tourist destinations in Cuba and more relaxed entry rules as of November 15th, 2021.

Canadians who visit the country must show proof of full vaccination. Visitors who aren’t fully vaccinated need to submit a negative PCR test for COVID-19 that was taken within 72 hours of arrival in Cuba.

No other COVID testing will required prior to or after arrival at the airport.

Officials said the PCR test that Canadians need to take before they return home to Canada can be taken at a visitors’ hotel for $30 USD.

Cuba had been limiting visitors to certain parts of the island, but will now open the entire country to tourism. As well, the government is cancelling mandatory quarantine for visitors who stay in private rental homes.

Cuba says it’s able to make the changes because they expect to have more than 92% of the population vaccinated by November.

“The fact that Cuba is relaxing the rules and that the tourists will be allowed to travel around and enjoy our beautiful country is very exciting and very good news at the time when Canadians are looking forward to returning to normal and are planning their winter travels,” said Lessner Gomez, Director of the Cuba Tourist Board in Toronto.
